The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kufa hosted the first ophthalmology conference for medical Faculties in Najaf, sponsored by the University of Kufa and in coordination with the Faculty of Medicine at Jaber Ibn Hayyan Medical University. The conference was attended by the Chancellors of the both Universities, the deans of their faculties of medicine, the head of Najaf Health Directorate and doctors syndicate, in addition to a large number of ophthalmologists from all the governorates of Iraq and the Kurdistan region. The conference was full of many lectures and working papers that discussed the latest updates in ophthalmology and surgery and the latest scientific findings in this field. It is noteworthy that the organizers of the conference indicated that the aim of establishing this scientific forum was to inform the participants about new ophthalmology and surgery, exchange experiences with local participants, and learn about new surgical techniques used in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. For her part, a member of the Preparatory Committee, Dr. Alia Abood Kareem, said, “We hope that this event will be successful with the good participation of the scientific figures in our beloved Iraq, and that it will be a good beginning for similar events with a wider presence and richer content to serve our near and far goals with hard work, solidarity, and concerted benevolent efforts in a fruitful scientific product that casts It will benefit everyone and reveal the local capabilities and competencies in the field of ophthalmology.” On the sidelines of the conference, a badge of excellence and creativity was presented to a group of participating ladies and gentlemen.
