Under the slogan of maternal and child health between service reality and sustainable development goals, the Faculty of Medicine / University of Kufa, in coordination with Najaf Health Directorate, held the annual scientific symposium on maternal and child health and witnessed a large attendance represented by deans of faculties, directors of governmental and private hospitals, directors of health sectors in Najaf, heads of a large number of non-governmental organizations concerned with health and sustainable development, in addition to teaching, medical, nursing staff as well as supportive staff who concerned with maternal and child health. The symposium aimed to shed light on maternal and child health and to improve the level of services of maternal and child care programs at all levels of health service delivery, primary health care centers, hospitals and the private sector, which contributes to reducing mortality and morbidity rates and family and community development through effective communication between service providers and target groups. The symposium also aimed at raising the level of partnership between all stakeholders to improve the level of services and development and to advance supervisory tasks at the level of sectors through the formation of joint teams from the Ministries of Higher Education and Health.
