Noor Dheyaa Aziz Al-Mosawi, the student from department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Faculty of Medicine / University of Kufa, discussed her doctoral dissertation that tagged as (Association of Solute Carrier Organic Anions Transporter 1B1 with Gene Polymorphism in Organic Anions Transporter 1B1 with response to Atorvastatin and Myopathy in Hyperlipidemic patients). The study aimed to investigate the distributional characteristics of organic anion transporters ((OATP1B1) in the gene polymorphism (SLCO1B1) in the Iraqi population and its association with atorvastatin response and associated myopathy by detecting the presence and frequency of four polymorphisms recorded in SLCO1B1 rs4149056), rs2306283, rs55901008, and rs72559745) in a sample of patients with hyperlipidemia in Iraq. The results showed that there was a non-significant relationship (P; 0.05) between the demographic characteristics of the study population with different genotypes for both respondents and non-responders. On the other hand, there was a significant difference (P; 0.05) in the biochemical results with regard to (cholesterol and triglycerides). and low-density lipoproteins and creatinine kinase -MM) when comparing the two groups. The study also demonstrated that the studied genetic polymorphisms (rs4149056, rs2306283, rs55901008, and rs729559745) have a high frequency in the Iraqi society.
