A doctoral thesis was discussed at the Faculty of Medicine /University of Kufa, Ridhab Ibrahim, the student from department of Biochemistry tagged her thesis as (Association of Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptors(α, δ, γ)and Lipoprotein Lipase gene polymorphisms with risk of dyslipidemia in Iraqi Obese Subjects). The study investigated the role of polymorphisms of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gene (alpha, delta, and gama) and lipoprotein lipase (LPL) as candidate risk markers for the development of dyslipidemia among obese males, in addition to investigating the relationship between body mass index and waist/hip ratio as independent risk factors for the development of dyslipidemia as well as the evaluation of the association between the level of fat index ; body mass index and waist / hip ratio, and its advantage in predicting dyslipidemia, as the results showed a significant association between genetic polymorphisms of the peroxisome proliferation activated receptor gene and the lipoprotein lipase enzyme with dyslipidemia among obese males in Iraq.
