The Faculty of Medicine holds an International symposium entitled (The Role of Nuclear Medicine and Immunohistochemistry in Management of Lymphoma)

In the presence of the Dean, Assist. Prof. Mohammed Saeed Abdul-Zahra and Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs Dr. Dhafer Sahib Jawad, the Middle Euphrates Unit for Cancer Researches at the Faculty and in cooperation with the Middle Euphrates Center of Oncology/University of Kufa held this symposium. Dr. Rihab Almudhaffer, Director of the Cancer Research Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, said: “The objective of such symposium is to show the latest scientific updates in the diagnosis and treatment of lymphoma and the use of modern methods, such as immunohistochemical testes and nuclear medicine, and the consequent treatment”. The Symposium concluded with a set of recommendations such as the development of a mechanism for selecting the type of immunohistochemical testes needed by the patient, based on preliminary microscopic observations of the tumor, which reduces the costs and increases the diagnostic accuracy as well as the treatment and the tumor stage. The Symposium was attended by Prof. Rasoul Zakavi, Head of Department of Nuclear Medicine/Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran. , Prof. Ahmed Naqvi, Consultant pediatric Hematologist and Oncologist / University of Toronto, Canada. Dr. Ahmed AbdShahad from Diwaniyah Province, Dr. Emad AlSabari, The Head of Middle Euphrates Center of Oncology in Najaf Province and a number of oncologists, pathologists and hematologists  from Najaf and other provinces.
