Dr. Reishan received the title of Professor in the field of English Language and deliberative linguistics. He presented a talk on “The Abolition between the Explanation and the Contradiction in some Holy Quran verses: a deliberative study”. It is a shared research with his colleague assistant professor Ikhlas Ali Mohsen Al-Shammari / Department of English Language / Faculty of Arts. This research studies the dual of meaning ‘and’ speech ‘in the light of semantics and linguistics deliberation and their impact on the study of what is said and what is intended and how to deal with them. The research aims to distinguish between the apparent and the internal meaning in the light of the available views from the two main theories of the philosopher and linguist Paul Grays (the theory of relevance and the theory of conversation). The research revolves around a concept proposed by Chris as A feature of ‘implicature’, it is the concept of ‘cancellability’, not only for what is said or what he calls ‘the theoretical-relevance explicature’, but also implied, What is the speaker meant by what he said. The research concluded that what is some might think of as “cancellation” for some of the meanings of the Holy Qur’an verses may be interpreted as “clarification” to understand the meaning or as a reinforcement for it. And that much of what may appear as a (contradiction) in these verses, again is not, but only a clarification and reinforcement of the intended meaning.
